“Wicked: For Good” impressed audiences not only with its story and performances but also with deleted scenes that never made it to theaters. One of the most notable cuts featured a romantic moment between Fiyero and Glinda. Co-screenwriter Dana Fox described it as “beautiful, but a little too passionate.”
During an interview with Deadline, Fox explained that each cut was intentional and carefully considered. The Fiyero-Glinda scene showed real emotional connection. However, this intensity risked changing how audiences viewed Fiyero’s final choice. This is why the scene was removed.
“It was too real that he and Glinda were actually feeling something together…so it was like, ‘Oh, we can’t know that because then our brains will explode when he doesn’t choose her in the end,’” Fox said.
Fans already captivated by the Fiyero-Elphaba chemistry in the “As Long As You’re Mine” sequence might find it intriguing that another intense moment existed but never appeared on screen. Fox emphasized that every cut aimed to keep the story cohesive while preserving its emotional impact.
Potential for a ‘Wicked 3’

Fox also spoke about the possibility of a third “Wicked” film. While there are no official plans, she expressed excitement at the idea of returning to these characters. She mentioned that revisiting the story could explore moments like Elphaba’s voiceover, which hints at characters discovering their own paths.
“I would be honored if anyone asked me to be a part of ‘Wicked 3,’” Fox stated. “Seeing what they were up to…that feels really like, ‘Hello.’ That’s spicy to me. I love the idea that we could meet up with them again someday.”
Director Jon M. Chu had said that “Wicked” was always intended as a two-movie experience. Yet, he left the possibility of a future installment open, noting, “Listen, you never know.”
Behind the Passionate Scenes
The Fiyero-Glinda kiss shows how carefully crafted scenes shape audience perception in “Wicked: For Good.” Although it was removed for being too intense, the cut preserved the story’s focus while still hinting at deeper character emotions.
Even without seeing every deleted moment, these insights reveal the thoughtful decisions behind character relationships and story flow. With the possibility of future installments, “Wicked” continues to spark interest and speculation among fans.
